The engineer behind the shoes.
I am J. Braye, a footwear designer and footwear developer working across sneaker design, performance construction and brand identity. J. Braye Design Consultancy exists to give footwear brands the same calibre of design and engineering thinking usually reserved for the biggest sportswear houses, without the overhead of a full in-house team.
My background spans concept sketching through to factory-floor problem solving, which means every silhouette I design is built with construction, cost and manufacturability in mind from the first line. I have supported established footwear brands refining seasonal ranges, and start-ups building a first collection from nothing but a brief and an ambition.

Constructions, lasts and materials are considered from day one, so fewer sampling rounds are needed later.

Product should read as unmistakably yours. Identity is designed into the shoe, not applied on top of it.
